Being sorry for the right reason

The other day I came across an old note I made in the front of my Bible: "When you sin, what are you sorry for? Are you sorry because of the consequences, or because you sinned against God and did something wrong? Be sorry for the right reasons!" It got me thinking about being sorry for the right reasons. When we sin we should be sorry unto repentance. We need to be sorry that we sinned against God. The Bible callls this "godly sorrow". Godly sorrow is a good thing, because it leads us to repentance. Too many people are sorry for the wrong reasons. They are only sorry they got caught. They're sorry because they get in trouble and have to pay the price. That is the sorrow of the world which worketh spiritual death. In II Corinthians chapter 7 verses 9 - 10, the apostle Paul says "Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed unto repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." There is a lot to think about in these verses. Have you ever seen someone keep coming to the altar after every service and crying their eyes out? Yet they keep going back out in the world and doing the same things over and over again. A lot of times it is because they have the sorrow of the world. They do feel sorry - but not for the right reasons. They feel sorry because of the way the sin makes them feel, and they feel sorry because they know they're wrong but they don't want to give it up. It's so important that we are sorry for the right reason! We should all have godly sorrow if we sin. Tomorrow is not promised and God may return for His people at any time. This is all a part of being ready to meet Him if He should come today. We can't live in sin if we're going to make it to heaven - we have to over come sin. And if we really want to over come sin, God will be our help. So next time you feel sorry for doing wrong just ask yourself, "what am I really sorry for?" Be sorry for the right reason.

Guy with funny shirt, and new blog to check out.

The other day at work a guy came in wearing a shirt that said "I hope you like animals, cause I'm a beast." I thought it was kind of funny. Especially considering what the dude looked like! LOL Anyways, just thought I would share that.

On another note, check out the Polished Plume. Sis. Sienna sells some really cute hair accessories she makes herself! She will be selling some at youth A.L.I.V.E. I recently discovered her blog and so I thought I'd let everyone else know about it to. :)

I'll post later....

That I sin not with my tongue

Psalm 39:1 says "I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me." What is this verse telling us? If we take heed to our ways, we won't sin with our tongue. (Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23) Having a walk with God will keep you from lying, cursing, gossiping, and so on. What is a walk with God? A relationship. A life that says "I love you, Jesus." If you don't ever talk to a person, then you do not have a relationship with them. Spending time with God in prayer, reading His word, AND obeying it is what keeps us from sinning with our tongue. A lot of times we just think of sinning with our tongue as cursing. But what about lies? What about gossip? Gossip getting into a church or youth group can stop revival from happening. It hurts and upsets people. If your spirit is right you will be concerned with peoples souls and well being. If your spirit is wrong, you may not care about others and repeat or say things that could hurt them or their reputation. Words can deeply wound people and affect them for the rest of their life. Proverbs 18:8 says "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly." I get upset when I hear young people in the church talking about other young people. If you know someone is having a problem or struggling, why don't you lift them up in prayer? Why don't you try encouraging them or doing something kind for them? It bothers me that while souls are hanging in the balance there are people that are gossiping. These things should not be so! Gossip sows discord, and that is something that the Lord hates! The seven abominations the Lord hates are listed in Proverbs chapter 6: 16 - 19.
  • A proud look
  • A lying tongue
  • Hands that shed innocent blood
  • An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
  • Feet that be swift in running to mischief
  • A false witness that speaketh lies
  • He that soweth discord among brethren

Among the things that the Lord most hates, a lying tongue, false witness that speaketh lies, and someone that sows discord are all named. People sow discord by what they say and what they do. If you aren't living right, the enemy can use you to sow discord in the church, hurt people, and put a stop to unity. What is the point of the Church? We have a mission, we have a destination to reach: Heaven. If we're talking wrongly or gossiping about each other, we are NOT helping each other to get there. The best thing you can do is get a walk with God and get your heart right with him. When you do, everything falls into place. So, I challenge you: Stand for what is right. Encourage your brothers and sisters in the Lord instead of talking behind their back. Walk with Jesus everyday. Go find someone to believe in and help live for God. If you see someone struggling, pray for them and be a friend to them. Take heed to your ways, that you sin not with your tongue.

Happy 27th Anniversary to my wonderful Parents!!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! I love you very much and I am so thankful for the Godly example you have shown me through out all my life. You've been faithful through thick and thin, and positive through the ups and downs. I would not be the person I am today without all the love and help and prayers from you both. Thank you! May you have many more wonderful years together!

Love,

Your Favorite Daughter

Revival

We are having revival services tonight and Sunday with Bro. Savala. I'm excited! My neighbor might come and another girl I used to work with may come too. I also got to talk to a nurse from Kaiser yesterday about our church, and also got into a discussion with a Jehovah's witness. I really want to reach more people and see revival in our church. I'm going to keep pressing on - for I know I'll reap in time! Please pray for these revival services and that God would draw and bring these people we're inviting and working with. Thank you!

This week!

I know, I haven't posted much lately. I've been so busy, and when I'm not, I'm tired. I feel old! sad, I know. My parents are coming back tonight and I'm very happy about that. This week I've been working, cooking, and cleaning. I have much respect for single moms that have to work a job, and take care of the home. This week has given me some insight on that! lol On Wednesday we surprised Coco at the airport when he came home from a scouts trip. The whole airport must of knew he was there cause we were all yelling his name. Then we tried to meet at In N Out - Hanna and I made it there safe but Abel got the boys lost, they ended up in the ghetto of Palo Alto. Figures! We all made it to the same place eventually, just not at the time we tried for. Thursday and Friday I worked, and I'm about to go get ready for work right now! Thursday night church was really good by the way! Anyways, I gotta run. Did anyone even read this? lol
