There is a story in the book of First Samuel chapter 5 that has caught my attention and interest. After the Philistines had captured the ark in chapter 4, they took the ark of God to Ashdod and put it in in the house of Dagon and set it next to him. Dagon was an idol/false god.
When the Philistines came back in the morning, Dagon was fallen upon his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord. They picked up the false god and put him back in his place, but when they came back the next morning, not only was Dagon on the floor again before the ark of the Lord, but both his hands and his head were cut off. Pretty funny that humans would have to pick up "god" and help him back to his place. Some god, huh? I'm thankful I know who the One True God really is!
God's very presence dwelt inside the ark, and that is why Dagon could not stand before it. Where the presence of the Lord is, the enemy cannot stand. It is interesting to me that Dagon's head and both hands were cut off.
Only a move of God can cut off the enemy's hands to work evil and his mind to influence humans to do his work.
Isaiah 10:27 talks about the yoke being destroyed because of the anointing.
Where there is anointing, the power of the enemy is destroyed! Just as the false God fell before the ark of the Lord, satan has to bow.
Philippians 2:10 says "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth"
Every human's knee, every angel's knee, every demon's knee, must bow at the name of Jesus. There is nothing greater than the presence of God, and His name; and we know that name is Jesus! I'm thankful today to have the Holy Ghost that helps me overcome the things of the world and be holy. I'm thankful for the power in it! The devil cannot stand - if God be for us, who can be against us?
