The Call to Trust

"You just have to leave it in His hands."

It sounds so simple, yet sometimes in our humanity it becomes so hard to do. I believe that what makes this so difficult for us as humans at times, is when we feel needed somewhere for a particular reason. We may feel the need or even a responsibility to work some things out ourselves, when really, God wants us to obey His call and trust Him, leaving our personal situations in His hands.

Let me explain by briefly sharing an example I heard by a preacher.  This preacher knew that him and his wife were called to a certain country and do the work of God, but they had not yet gone. The wife's father was elderly, not doing well and had nobody else to take care of him. The preacher would tell his wife that they needed to go, because God was calling them. Naturally, the wife felt like it would be wrong to just leave her father. It tore at her heart - go to this place God was calling them, but leave her her dad?  Normally, it would be wrong to do something like that. But you see, when God calls us to go and do something, it may mean leaving something or somebody behind - and in His hands.  One thing we must understand about the call of God that takes us out of comfort zone is that He expects us to trust Him enough to obey, and leave the other things we care so much about in His hands.  Some may even feel a sense of guilt in leaving something or someone behind, as this dear preacher's wife was feeling. However, tearfully, she along with her husband decided to leave it all in God's hands. It was very, very difficult to do. But they had to obey.

It wasn't until after they obeyed, that God began to work things out for this lady's father. He provided him with a good place to live, care, and the things he needed. The father was well taken care of.

You see, sometimes the things that we feel the need to work out ourselves so desperately, are the things that God calls us to leave in His hands. The Lord wants His people to trust Him enough to "let go." He can work things out a whole lot better we ever could.  Above anything else, we must answer God's call to us - even if it means leaving a place where maybe we feel needed.  I have seen others go through this and be an example of faith and trusting in God.  This puts a desire in my heart to obey God no matter what it means giving up.  It's so much easier said than done, but God knows what He's doing, and He is able to work things out beautifully.  Maybe He'll meet the needs we feel need to meet our selves, if we will just surrender.  It may not happen right away - it may happen over time.

But - one thing I know is that God being Almighty can work out anything if we'll just completely leave it in His hands.

So, whatever it may today that you struggle to trust God with, rest assured that He loves you and knows what is on your heart. If we will submit to His will, He will take care of those things and those situations that we feel we need to "work out" or "make happen" ourselves. God knows what is best!

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Leave it in His hands today!
