Dear Cows

Dear Cows,

Why is it that I always see you craning your necks to reach the grass on the other side of the fence? It's normally when I am driving by your pasture that I see you wanting to taste of the dry, roadside grass just outside your fence. Since you can't seem to understand, I will tell you; The grass inside your pasture is the good stuff, and the fence is only there to protect you and keep you from harm. If it wasn't there, you would not even know where to go and would probably get hit by a car or fall prey to some tragedy.
Yes, I know you may be able to taste of the grass on the other side, but it's pretty hard for you to do without hurting yourself, not to mention you aren't getting something better for all the pain and the effort that you're going through. If you would just learn to be happy and content and realize that the grass in your home pasture is what you really desire, life would be so much better. How sad life can be for those who never learn to be content.
1 Timothy 6:6 says, "But godliness with contentment is great gain." Cows, I have learned from you. There have been many times in my life when I was not feeling very 'content,' but that was my own fault. Once I realized just how good my pasture was, I didn't want to crane my neck anymore. Fences put up by God and the authority He has placed in our lives are not there to keep us from getting the good stuff, but rather just the opposite. They are there to protect us from evil and keep the good from being corrupted. Holiness is a fence. The Gospel is a fence. The revelation of the Mighty God in Christ is a fence. I don't even want to desire to go past those fences, for I know I truly dwell in the pasture that the other 'cows' are searching for.
Psa 23:1-2 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

I hope others can learn from you, too; to be content and see the beauty of God's will despite the hardships is a very valuable thing. One can be afflicted and still content. Learn the value of a fence. The trampled and dry roadside grass isn't worth it; we already have it made. Stay in the pasture!

Sincerely,
Blessed
