Poll/opinions: Caramel

This is not an important post, I'm just doing this out of curiosity! I was wondering how you all pronounce the word "Caramel." Yes, the stuff people put on top of their ice cream or other desserts. The reason is, some of us in our family pronounce it "Car-mull" while others pronounce it "Care-uh-mel." We have an ongoing joke/dispute about it and it's actually pretty funny.

So, just curious as to what you all have to say! Let me know! =)

I had to really think about this. I think I say it both ways with a tendency towards "Care-uh-mel."

Care-uh-mel.

But most around here say Car-mull. :)

"Car mull". Other than on some television food show, I am not sure I have ever even heard a person pronounce it the other way. (Even though I am pretty sure care-a-mel is the proper pronunciation).

Lemme guess, your mom and you pronounce it care-a-mel and your pop and brother car-mull?

Thanks for commenting, everyone.

Uncle Mike,

Actually, it's the other way around! My dad says "care-a-mel" and the rest of us say "car-mull." LOL! We're always giving eachother a hard time about it.

Jen Lord is a bright girl. It is indeed care-a-mel (at least according to the dictionary, although car-mul has become accepted because of so many people who never learned phonics. :-)

Well some people that say care-a-mel can't even pronounce "available" correctly. ;) So it's probably not a matter of learning phonics. Love ya Dad!!
