Never Fear!

I recently found some interesting facts (I think) about worry and fear that I'd like to share.

Worry is the match that can ignite fear into a phobia. The process of fear often begins in childhood and can push the fear into a long term cycle of angst and personal frustration.
Perhaps a few statistics can put worry in its place. It may not completely remove your fear, but it can provide some rational thought behind why fear can be left behind.

“It is never safe to look into the future with eyes of fear.” – Edward Henry Harriman

Did you know?
  • 40% of what you worry about will never happen
  • 30% of what you worry about or fear are things that happened in the past and can’t be changed
  • 10% of what we worry about are considered by most to be insignificant issues
  • 12% of what we worry about are issues about our health that will not happen
  • This means that 92% of what we fear or worry about will never take place
It should be meaningful to realize that there are only 8% of anything we worry about that can be considered legitimate concerns.

We as children of the King should not be given to worry and fear! The only fear we should have is the Fear of the Lord. Fear of other things is not good for us. Fears are things that people tend to dwell upon in their minds. Fear can lead people to do silly things that they would not normally do. Fear can keep one from doing what they should do, because they are afraid of what others will think of them. Fear can keep us locked up from the things that God has for us. If our lives are full of fear and worry, how will we have joy and peace like we are supposed to have as God's people? Fear is something that we need to conquer in prayer, and with the Word of God!

II Timothy 1:7 says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power; and of love, and of a sound mind."

The devil will try and fill our minds with worry to keep us from being what we should be. If he can get us afraid and focusing on what's going wrong, or what might go wrong, he knows that we won't be about our Father's business as we should be. Jesus doesn't want us to worry about our bills, jobs, health, etc. He is our provider and He wants us to have faith that He will be there for us just like He said. Jesus talks about some of these things in Matthew chapter 6:25-34. Verses 30-33 say this:

"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Jesus wants us to take Him at His word. He WILL take care of our needs if we'll just trust Him and put our situations in His hands.

There are many different things that people fear.

Some people don't witness and don't live holy when they have to stand alone because they are afraid. Because of that fear they conform to world to please them. What are you worried about? Do you fear what others will think and do because of the way you chose to live? Can those people save your soul? Are they your maker? Will they be your final judge? No. God will.

Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14 says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”

Fear the Lord, not your problems.

My pastor preached something similar to this years ago and I haven't forgotten that message.
